It has recently come to my attention that I don’t read enough. For someone who worked in a bookstore for a year, and a library for two, one would think I would be a regular bookworm. Well, I’m not. This summer, I spent most of my time reading books that I’ve read a million times already, oh, and the new Harry Potter, twice. You see, I’m in a bit of a children’s lit rut these days. I think my problem is that I don’t have many bibliophilous (yes, I’ve just made that up) friends who are up to date with the latest publications. When I worked at the aforementioned book store, I knew all of the soon-to-be-published specimens and would read the ones that piqued my interest. I began this endeavor when the manager set up the “employees picks” list on which my “choice” was some Mary Higgins Clark book that I had never even read. Since those days my curiosity for the newly published has waned considerably.

Hence the point of this rather longwinded, and slightly irritating post: My new quest is to once again be the well informed bibliophile of my imagination. (for even in my more motivated past, I wasn’t really that hip to the book scene)

Starting with Book Slut Dot Com I’ll be re-kindling my long lost book lovin’ self. And there will be more links a comin’ soon.

woo hoo, indeed.

I can’t actually be the “book slut” because that awesome name is already taken and put to very good use, I might add. However, Mr. Monkey, sir, if you could come up with a name for me, I’d be very glad to post reviews on your site. Word, indeed.
