speaking of knitting (the Wednesday, Dec. 10 entry) I’ve had only 3/4 of a skein left to go on my big not-quite-harry-potter scarf. It’s grey, tube-shaped, like the harry potter scarves in the movies… I began making it because, er, well, it’s kind of silly, really:

I wanted to go home for Christmas on a train, and have a long black coat, and a grey scarf, matching hat and mittens, and say “happy Christmas” as I boarded the train.

I crocheted the hat, actually… it was meant to be a “Mrs. Weasley”-type beret, but it came out rather chef-like, really. I like it, though. The scarf has been “almost done” for about a month. I’ve just lost the energy to stare at grey yarn. I put off doing the mittens, too. And besides, my coat is brown. I never had time to make that black one, anyway. (My whole Christmas vacation was inspired by a silly, romantic icea about trains and traveling)

And that hat I was supposed to do for Colleen has been postponed… hopefully I’ll have it done by the end of winter so she can actually use the darned thing.
