So, I’ve been on a bento kick these last several days. I do this thing where I get obsessed about something, then read everything I can get my hands on about it, look at pictures, etc. That’s how I’ve spent my spring break so far: looking at pictures of cute food. I can’t get enough of the stuff. Seriously, if you have the chance, pop over to Cooking Cute and peruse the gallery. It’s amazing.

Anyway, I’ve been experimenting with neat food shapes so I can incorporate some bento-like ideas in our lunches. We went to Super 88 Market today and got some yummy ingredients. I did an experimental dinner last night. The food wasn’t experimental, we eat like that all the time. But the shape was new and fun. Tonight’s effort was an experiment with a traditional onigiri form. Disk shaped rice with nori and seasonings.

Behold! and Behold!

It’s like a craft and a food. Crafty food!

There are links instead of pictures, because I don’t yet know how to post pictures directly in a post. I’m using the little insert picture thingie, but it never seems to work. If anyone more experienced with embedding flickr images (ahem, Spinstah), please email me. Thanks!
